Farmington Hills, MI – August 20, 2022 – Regina C. Hall, Founder/Organizer of Sisters Journeying Together will join the United Nations to celebrate International Day of The Girl Child – this year’s theme is “Empowered Girls Grow Up to Be Empowered Women.”

On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted RESOLUTION 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. “The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.”

Sisters Journeying Together was birthed from the book Mommy, I Need You! written by Regina C. Hall. It is about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of a next-door neighbor and the healing power she experienced. Its mission is to assist young girls in finding their voices and healing from distorted thinking, low self-esteem, and negative images. Also, the organization provides a safe place for personal growth and leadership.

Our plan is to serve the community of girls (K-12) on the International Day of the Girl Child by offering a free service at any venue that best suits their needs. It can be online or in person, in a classroom, assembly, or at an after-school event. On this day, speakers, readers, and those who can speak about their career paths will present the topics of self-esteem, self-image, affirmation, commitment, and conflict resolution. Women will also share news about the different career paths (including STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) taken to empower themselves and others.

The services are free of charge. Let us know how we can serve your community on October 11, 2022. It can be a classroom, assembly, or afterschool event. Community members and organizations that would like to participate as a presenter can contact the email and telephone number below
